2018 Subaru BRZ in Durham - Chapel Hill

The Understated New 2018 Subaru BRZ is a Consistently Fun Ride

It wouldn't be a particular surprise if you've never heard of the Subaru BRZ. Among rear-wheel-drive sport coupes, it's one of the quietest and most understated models on the market. But, don't mistake that solemn maturity for a droll attitude, or a boring ride quality. This little Subaru coupe is all fun. Trim levels for the 2018 line include the BRZ Premium, Limited, and--for a very limited time--the BRZ tS.

A Well-Equipped Compact Interior

As a two-door car, with seating for four passengers, the BRZ's cabin isn't going to be quite as roomy as something like the Impreza or the Legacy; however, clever styling lets this coupe make the most out of its interior space to allow for plenty of comfort. Choose Premium or Limited trims to get features like cloth or faux-suede upholstery, heated front seats, auto climate control, and more.

Striking and Smooth Exterior Design

The exterior styling of the 2018 BRZ is nearly Porsche-like in its sweeping lines, tight rear end, and fierce nose. The sculpted headlights are balanced on either side of a prominent Subaru badge and an aggressive, low grille, giving the little BRZ a fun, snarling expression. Every detail has been optimized for aerodynamics and a sporty style. The 2018 BRZ tS even adds an eye-catching carbon-fiber pedestal wing.

Potent Performance in a Pint-Sized Package

While the Subaru BRZ's standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine makes a minimum of 200 horsepower, don't underestimate the numbers. Thanks to this coupe's light weight and advanced engineering, it doesn't need a huge amount of power to move and ride like a sports car. When equipped with a sporty manual transmission, the BRZ is good for 205 horsepower and 156 pound-feet of torque; with the six-speed auto, though, those numbers drop down slightly to 200 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque.

Media, Connectivity, and Security

The new 2018 BRZ comes standard with a 6.2-inch touchscreen display, smartphone audio- and call-streaming apps, and an eight-speaker sound system. The BRZ Limited adds a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and TomTom navigation, and more USB ports for charging and connection. The BRZ doesn't yet offer EyeSight driver-assistance technology.
