On Saturday, March 16th, 97.9 The Hill and Chapelboro.com celebrated their annual Hometown Heroes Luncheon. Sponsored by Hendrick Subaru Southpoint, this event brought together those that were recognized for their community contributions on air and online in 2023.

Guests enjoyed a smooth soundtrack by local artists Griffanzo and Danny Grewen, an opening poem by NC Piedmont Laureate Steven Petrow, and Hathaway Pendergrass, District Court Judge for Orange and Chatham Counties, brought home the keynote speech with a message about his appreciation of the Hometown Hero program as a lifelong listener of WCHL, and being consistently wowed by their efforts to make our community a better place.
