The 2019 Subaru Ascent Three-Row SUV Near Raleigh
Here's your need-to-know specs and features.
Standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive
This one is not a surprise.
The new Ascent will come standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive for all-road traction, but you might be pleased to know that it's also built with a huge 8.7 inches of ground clearance--same as the Outback and Forester--and X-MODE for additional grip and security.
The new 2019 SUV model comes standard with a turbocharged BOXER engine good for 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque.
It's Going to Be Safe and Durable
It's not uncommon for the entire Subaru model lineup to sweep the IIHS' annual Top Safety Pick ratings. So, while the Ascent hasn't received any safety ratings or rankings of its own (and it won't until it's officially released for sale), we can only assume that it'll be a top pick for parents.
Add in the fact that 98% of Subaru vehicles sold in the last 10 years are still kickin' and stickin' to the roads today, and the 2019 Ascent is looking more and more impressive.
Tons of Room
With a full 153.5 cubic feet of passenger space, this three-row family SUV is the largest vehicle that Subaru has ever built. Two interior configuration options make it easy to find an Ascent that best fits your family:
- 2-2-3 type seating with second-row Captain's Chairs for optimum comfort and room for seven passengers
- 2-3-3 type seating with second-row bench seat for optimum carrying capacity and room for eight passengers
A little surprising, and maybe disappointing, is that the 2019 Subaru Ascent only offers 72.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the front seats. That's less than the Forester and the Outback, and it's even less than the Honda CR-V. The body is large, and the interior is smartly-designed, so we have to assume that measurements were taken accounting for some seriously plush chairs that cut down on total cargo space.
If you're looking for more storage, though, the Ascent does give plenty of it up top.
