The Feature-Packed and Powerful 2019 Subaru WRX and WRX STI

A post shared by Subaru of America (@subaru_usa) on

Subaru is still planning to release an all-new, completely redesigned Subaru WRX in the next few years--the current chatter says that it'll arrive for the 2020 MY--so the changes and updates we're seeing for the new 2019 WRX and WRX STI aren't particularly wild or extravagant.

But, they're definitely welcomed.

Check out what to expect in the thrilling new 2019 WRX and 2019 WRX STI models in Durham.

2019 WRX Updates

A flashy new offering for the 2019 Subaru WRX and WRX STI is a limited-edition Series Gray package, offered on just a handful of each model. The package brings a "Cool Gray Khaki" exterior color and some snazzy interior accents.

Also new for 2019? Tons of tech. The STARLINK system, which was standard last year as well, now offers the 6.5-inch screen, up from 6.2 inches last year, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard on the entire WRX lineup. Premium and Limited WRX trims offer a tablet-like 7.0-inch touchscreen.

Performance Upgrades for the 2019 WRX STI

310 horsepower.

That's how much you'll get these days from the 2019 Subaru WRX STI, thanks to some smart re-programming of the 2.5-liter turbocharged BOXER four-cylinder engine and some re-tuned pistons. This 5-horsepower boost puts the WRX STI back above the Civic Type R hatchback, which cheekily offered 1 HP more than last-year's STI.

The 2019 MY still offers the legendary six-speed manual, and we're fairly certain that this stick shift will remain into the next generation as well.

Ready for more?

The Subaru WRX sports sedan is a classic year over year in Durham and the Raleigh area, but if you're looking for tech and max power, it may be worth waiting for the 2019 models to arrive soon at Hendrick Subaru Southpoint.
